Courtesy Call to the Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana

As part of Ghana Evangelism Committee agenda of making the committee visible to the Christian community again in the Nation, the National Director, Reverend Bright Nyamedor together with two members of the Steering Committee, Revered Samuel Buenor Lawerteh, the Committee Secretary, Very Revered Helena Ama Serwaa Opoku-Sarkodie, a Co-Opted Member and Yaw Sah Somiah, the Administrator paid a courtesy call to one of it’s member churches, The Presbyterian Church of Ghana on Tuesday 30th April 2024 at their headquarters.

Receiving the team was The 19th Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbytery Church of Ghana, Rt. Rev Abraham Nana Opare Kwarkye and the Missions are Evangelism Director, Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Sarbah.

Rev. Nyamedor briefed the Moderator and the M&E director of the works of the GEC for the past 49 years, established in 1974 and the quest to rebrand GEC to effectively play the catalyst role in the three core mandate of GEC which are Mission Research, Evangelism and Discipleship to the Churches in Ghana.

The Director also was privileged to speak into the vision 2027 of GEC with the theme ‘GHANA MUST GO’ to the Officers. He briefed them on some of the thematic areas, Mission Research, Discipleship Building, Leadership Development, Evangelism, Strengthening of Ecumenical Unity, Administrative Structuring, Innovative Use of Information Technology (IT) and Financial Mobilization will represent the key areas that will occupy the attention of GEC.

He emphasized the need of a church survey in Ghana for the Christian community. He highlighted how the survey will help in: understanding demographic trends, evaluating socio-economic factors, adapting to technological changes, assessing cultural dynamics and informing strategic planning.

Rt. Rev. Opare Kwakye expressed his appreciation to the team for the courtesy call and congratulated the director for his new role. He agreed to the need for the National Church Survey and pledged to assist the Committee in any way for the success of it. He also indicated that Christianity is becoming more superficial and not deepening, if care is not taking we’ll one day regret if nothing of such is done.

Papa Moderator assured the team that the Presbyterian Church of Ghana will continue to support the Ghana Evangelism Committee in all means for the execution of it’s mandate.
