Director’s Presentation at Trinity United Church – The State of Evangelisation in Ghana

On Sunday 14th January 2024, the National Director of the GHANA Evangelism Committee was invited by Trinity United Church Legon to speak on the State of Evangelisation in Ghana.
He spoke on the topic: THE FIELDS ARE WHITE IN GHANA. Below are excerpts from his presentation.
We have been commissioned and commanded by the Head of the Church our Lord Jesus Christ to send the gospel to everyone. In obeyance to this clarion call the fathers of the land have made giant strides in our nation in the areas of evangelism and Discipleship. The great work done by our forebears resulted in the following:

Despite these strides, church leaders should be able to examine the growth and position of the churches in Ghana, within the context of the divine mandate of our Lord Jesus gave to the Church (Matt. 28:20) and respond honestly to these striking questions.

Analysis from the findings of the 2021 population and housing census report indicates that in the year 2000, Christianity represented 68.8 % of the national population. Islam represented 15.8%, traditional religion 8.5%, and non-religious 6.1%.
In 2010, Christianity represented 71.2% of Ghanaโ€™s population followed by Islam (17.6%).
In 2021, the proportion of Christians in Ghana increased to 71.3%. from 71.2% (Meaning Christianity grew by only 0.1%). Islamโ€™s increased to 19.9% from 17.6% in 2010 (Meaning Islam grew by 2.3%).
Between 2000 and 2010 Christianity appreciated by 2.4%. Over the past 10 years (2010 to 2021) Christianity grew by only 0. 1%.
I shared excerpts of the findings from the GEC Unreached People Groups (UPGs) survey conducted in 2020. According to the report we have about 111 people groups in Ghana and Currently, there are Nineteen (19) known Unreached People Groups (UPG) and 4 Unengaged Unreached People Groups (UUPG) in Ghana.
Indeed, the fields are white and pray to the owner of the harvest to send laborers. (Matthew 9:35-38).
    Long live GEC
Long live the body of Christ
    Long live Ghana
